Camp Invention
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of FameĀ® Pulaski Elementary School in Somerset, KY hosted the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program for the first time this past summer. Children entering kindergarten through sixth grade were invited to participate in this inspiring, weeklong summer experience that provided opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Through a variety of exhilarating activities each day, children have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively and inventing their own solutions to real-world challenges. Come experience for yourself some of the activities students participated in this summer, and hear how you too can offer this amazing experience for students in your school and community.

Making Movement Manageable in the Science Classroom: Techniques and Strategies to help educators incorporate movement through a phenomenon based curriculum
In this dynamic and engaging session focused on enhancing science education, educators will explore innovative ways of integrating movement techniques and strategies into a KAS Science Standards third through High School -grade classrooms. The goal of this session is to promote active learning and deepen students' understanding of scientific concepts while aligning with the NGSS framework and movement. The session will highlight the importance of incorporating movement into the classroom. Participants were reminded that children learn best when they are actively engaged and encouraged to explore their environment. Movement boosts cognitive development and creativity. Participants will be encouraged to think about how movement could be seamlessly integrated into a phenomenon based curriculum. This enlightening session served as an inspiration for educators to rethink their approach to science education. By embracing movement techniques and strategies, teachers can create dynamic, memorable learning experiences that not only align with KAS Standards but also foster a deeper understanding and love for science in their 3-12 students.Speakers: Kimberly Sparkman, KEDC
