Encourage your high students to apply to the Kentucky Forest and Entomology Leadership Program, a weeklong Natural Resource Educational Opportunity presented by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, Kentucky Division of Forestry, Kentucky Division of Conservation, UK Environmental and Natural Resource Task Force, and Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute
The Kentucky Forest and Entomology Leadership Program is designed for high school students completing their sophomore and junior years. This weeklong, hands-on experience concentrates on natural resource management. Throughout the week, students will experience related fields beyond forestry, including civil engineering, entomology, soil science, wildlife habitat assessment, and water quality. The program gives student the chance to learn how to think, not what to think. Students will develop life long learning skills based on observation, action and evaluation and learn to think creatively, make decisions, and set goals.
