The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)
NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN for teachers in grades K-6 –WWW.PAEMST.ORG
The PAEMST are the nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science (including computer science). Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.
Since 1983, more than 4,400 teachers have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. If you know great teachers, nominate them to join this prestigious network of professionals.
The 2016 Awards will honor mathematics and science (including computer science) teachers working in grades K-6.
Nominations close on April 1, 2016 with applications due on May 1, 2016; however, this process takes time and requires pensive reflection of teaching practices, so please do not delay nominating a deserving teacher for this honor. If you do not wish to nominate a teacher, please share this announcement with others including your school and district leadership, your local organizations that support education (e.g., local KEA, PTA/PTSA/PTO/PTSO), parents and students.
This award runs in two cycles. Teachers for grades K – 6 are eligible for the award in even numbered years (e.g., spring 2016) with nominations opening in the fall of the prior year (e.g., fall 2015). Teachers for grades 7 – 12 are eligible for the award in odd numbered years(e.g., spring 2017) with nominations opening in the fall of the prior year (e.g., fall 2016).
